FIREWORKS IN GUATEMALA

Fireworks in Guatemala

After the closure in 2002 of the fireworks factory that gave a living to dozens of people, the inhabitants of La Grenadilla, small village near Guatemala City, began producing fires in their huts, in the total absence of electricity and water. The whole family is involved in the production, working in the barracks at least 12 hours a day. Gunpowder is close to the fire used for cooking and to the candles used for lighting at night, with imaginable consequences.
